Caring for Your Child's Baby Teeth

Thank you Robin!!!!!! I worked for a children's dentist for 14 years and you would not believe the number of people who say "oh they're just baby teeth, they don't need to be fixed". People don't realize that if you let the baby teeth decay, the permanent teeth are forming in a diseased area. Taking care of the baby teeth is important! When the first teeth start to come in, take a wet piece of gauze and gently wipe them down. NO JUICE IN THE BOTTLE!!!! Kids carry around a bottle with juice in it and it just constantly bathes the teeth in sugar.

No milk in the bottle to go to bed with either. The milk sits on the teeth all night. This is what causes "baby bottle tooth decay". Water is the only thing that should be in that baby bottle at night. Let your child cry for a few times. Better that then having them sitting in the dentist's chair crying. I saw so many children who had totally decayed mouths at a very young age. It's very tragic, not to mention expensive!!!
