I found about 5 or 6 of these little black bugs. I was hoping someone could identify them.
Thank you in advance.
Carpet beetle. They are out in full force. Vacuum them up, clean, and you should be fine.
Does anyone know what type of bug this is. I'm finding them everywhere in my home. They don't fly, they crawl. I'm in Washington state
This could be a "common ground beetle", which is attracted to the indoors by light. Sealing openings in doors and windows is key to control, as well as keeping vegetation away from exterior walls.
I discovered these today inside my home. This is the first time I've seen them and there are around half a dozen that I've spotted. I originally saw them on the floor near a window and within about a half an hour they crawled/hopped (I've seen a couple try to jump like a flea, but only about 3-5cm max) up onto the windowsill. They tend to stay near sunlight from what I've noticed. Two look to have drowned in moisture on the sill from condensation after cooking last night. Some have wings, not all.
I do believe these are termintes and they come out of the wood work certain times a year. When they first come out they will have wings and can fly. We get them here at our home from time to time and especially if you live around another home that has terminated. After they fly the wings will fall off and they can drop down to the ground.
There are about 9300 species of Click Beetles worldwide. I think you have one of those. I found pictures of a few species that look very similar to your photo.
I have encountered click beetles, large and small, all my life. I have never known them to be a problem in the garden or in the house. They hang around for a while and then leave as quickly as they came. They can destroy large crops of potato, strawberry, corn, and wheat.
I think what you described as them trying to jump was actually them trying out their click mechanism.
In the last week I have been finding these little black flies either in my window sills or in sticky traps near windows/skirting boards. I live in a first floor flat and have no indoor plants.
I'm finding about 10 a day. Any idea what they are please? These look like the Ensign wasp that comes in from outside. They are harmless and do not sting. They are just a pain when they come in from outside.
so if they're flies they're probably just garden variety fruit flies. Contrary to popular belief they don't just breed because of rotting fruit, but any moisture, such as in non-cleaned drains, will also cause the problem. Or if there's a fruit tree outside with rotting fruit, and that's bringing them in.
Cleaning everything thoroughly with bleach, especially in drains and other prone areas, and of course eliminating any vegetable matter (bananas) will solve the problem.
I am looking for advice on what kind of bug I'm seeing in my bathroom! They are super tiny, like little dark specs that you can hardly notice. They are maybe half or 1/3 the size of ants, and I can't see the individual body parts until I use a camera to zoom in on them. See pics. They scurry around pretty quickly when I agitate them by blowing air their way!
Now the environment I see them in: we have a bathroom with very poor ventilation. The shower has small windows in it, which have ledges made of wood. They get super wet and moldy, and it's possible the wood is rotting. At some point we added waterproof caulking at some point to cover holes that ants were entering from, and they seem to be crawling all over the caulking. Any ideas? I was hoping they might be book lice which I saw in another one if the posts on here, but I don't think they look like booklice up close!
Thank guys!
At first they look like silverfish but then silverfish are usually 1/2-3/4 inches and you seem to be saying your bugs are smaller. Your bugs do not seem to have the silverfish tail.

They seem to be acting like a drain fly but do not look like one.
There is an easy way to test for drain flies:
"Place some tape over the top of drain, with some holes in it for air flow. If the drain flies get stuck on the tape as they exit the drain, you know you have drain flies."
To me - they really look like Springtails and it seems that some parts of your house is a breeding ground for this type of bug.
I believe you can kill them with vinegar or bleach but you will need to eliminate the moist areas of your rooms or they will just keep multiplying.
You may be able to bleach the rotten wood until you can replace it.
You do not say if you are renting or buying but either way it is not a good type of atmosphere for you to be living in so please try to work on getting rid of the mold and dampness that is causing it.
This may be a good time for you to think about investing in a good dehumidifier. These can be found (in all sizes and all prices) in local stores or online and this would take a lot of the moisture out of your house.
Most likely your closet have moisture and your clothes may be affected - and ruined.
Check out the Springtails to see if they look like your bugs.

Does anyone know what kind of bug this is?
It looks like a hard-shelled beetle.
What bug is this?
This Anthrenus Verbasci- better known as a varied Carpet Beetle. This beetle does not harm humans, but loves to destroy fibers in carpet, furniture pieces and clothing. - regular insecticide can be applied. Here is some history on this insect - en.wikipedia.org/
Please help me identify these pictures. I have been finding these seeds one at a time and they are definitely not sesame seeds. The white seed picture is from the first day and then the next day it turned brown and cracked in a plastic bag. I am also finding tiny black pepper flakes in bed and tiny flies everywhere.
Even in my fridge.. I have been bitten which feels like a sharp pinch also. After much research, I am guessing tapeworm, but I have no clue. Can anyone help please? Thank you!If you are finding tiny black specs in your home, around your bed and you are being bitten these are eggs from the no-see-um. They have tiny razor-sharp teeth that will pierce your skin to suck the blood from you. These are also known as sand fleas by some people. They are very hard to get rid of and it will take time to get them out of your home. The sacs you are finding are egg sacs and when hatched it will produce hundreds of these tiny bugs all over your home. In order to stop getting bit until you can clean up the home, you should get some mint oil and apply it to your skin. The bugs can bite you through the oil and on top of it they will not try because they hate the smell of mint oil. I know this because we have them here and when they come out that is what I use to keep them from bitting me.
This looks like classic Ceratopogonidae - better known as biting Midges or No See Ums insect. This insect has 4 stages of growth , egg, larva, pupa & adult. The pictures you have are the different stages and adult Midges. These painful ,itchy insect needs to be controlled or professional brought in. en.wikipedia.org/
I recently moved and after a few days of living in the new house I started to notice small black bugs crawling on my sheets. I wasn't sure what they were, but I washed my sheets and yet I still see these bugs.
I don't see them anywhere else in the house just on my bed. I've googled for hours, but can't seem to find what they are! Someone please help so I know how to get rid of them!Looks like a ground beetle to me and they are usually okay in the garden but not so nice in the house. They are getting on your sheets because they are attracted to light and your white or light colored sheets may be confusing them.
I was hoping someone would know what these little black bugs are. I have never seen them in the house before. I found them in the kitchen and on windows sills.
they are probably grain beetles
I found them in my cupboard, cleaned it and there were just a couple of them. I now find them randomly on my bedsheet. This is a very recent discovery though! I always keep my room super clean and there is no food in my room either.
I am not sure what to do about them. Are these the bugs which get attracted to light and have no purpose, but to annoy humans with their presence?
