Repurpose Water From Washer

Category Water

Living in a dry climate, I have found ways to recycle my water. It takes a lot of work, I'm not saying it's easy. Do you ever consider how much water your washer uses per load? Wash then rinse. With water rates increasing; I've found a way to use the water from my washer.

I purchased a battery operated transfer pump. Before my washer goes into the spin cycle, I siphon the water out into my 2 gallon (approx) watering can.
I have filled this watering can about 8 times during one wash load (wash/rinse). That's a lot of water I can give to my many plants. Sudsy water does not hurt them.

I've included a photo of the items I use. The pool noodle is to extend the flexible hose of the transfer pump (it's too short to reach the floor). I just insert the end of the hose into the pool noodle to direct it to the watering can. As I said, it takes work, but it pays off.

Items to use for repurposing water from washer.
